2019 Mazda6

The Mazda6 is available in five different trim levels and a range of body colors, beginning with the Sport, progress through the midrange Touring and Grand Touring levels, offer a premium Grand Touring Reserve, and finish with the range-topping Signature. It comes with 17-inch wheels and automatic LED headlights at the base level, with premium features like upgraded LED lighting, bigger 19-inch wheels, rear spoiler, and other elegant features at higher levels.

The standard engine on the new Mazda6 is a four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It gets 187 horsepower with 186 pound-feet in torque. At the Grand Touring level, you upgrade to a 2.5-liter inline-four engine with 250 horses and 310 pound-feet of torque.

Mazda went to great lengths to provide a feeling of true connectedness between the driver and the road. As such, the engine works hard and the throttle response is authoritative and steady. According to Edmunds, it goes from zero to 60 in 6.7 seconds and stops in 129 feet, solidly in line with the competition.

The steering provides confident cornering, especially at higher speeds, and the overall handling with minimal body roll and an arrow-straight line is nothing short of superb. The transmission shifts smooth and fast for ultimate overall drivability.

Inside the cabin, you'll get a solid suspension, firm and contoured seats that offer outstanding support even on long roads, and a serene cabin. The climate control is effective and intuitive, as are all of the controls on the Mazda6 infotainment system, which at the base level comes with an 8-inch touch screen augmented by a rotary knob, plus Bluetooth, a USB port, and six speakers.

At higher levels, you get options like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, heated seats, dual USB charging ports, and an 11-speaker, satellite radio upgrade. Leather and microfiber suede upholstery at the highest levels also offers additional luxury and comfort, while LED interior lighting, silver finishes, and digital gauge clusters provide a truly refined feel.

The Mazda6 is loaded with safety features. It starts with standard blind spot monitoring, rearview camera, cross-traffic alerts, front crash warning, emergency braking, lane departure and lane keeping features, and adaptive cruise control as well as the G-Vectoring Control Plus exclusive.

Higher levels give you even more, with surround-view cameras, parking sensors, GPS navigation, auto-dim mirrors, and more. It gained the 2019 Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and 5 stars overall from the NHTSA.
