Both the CR-V's continuously variable transmission and the CX-5's six-speed automatic transmission are able to move through the gears with ease, but the manual shift and sport mode featured on the CX-9 give you more control over your driving experience.
Infotainment
Infotainment features are a big draw for the CX-9, as it places a large 10.25-inch full-color touch-screen display front and center, where it's easy for the driver to access. In the CR-V, you get a crisp 7-inch touch-screen display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard across the lineup for the CX-5, but you'll have to upgrade your trim to get these smart features on your CR-V.
Safety Features
It's easy to stay safe when you have the array of driver-assist technologies offered on both the Mazda CX-5 and the Honda CR-V. Either vehicle is a safe choice thanks to standard features like lane-departure warning and collision warning with automatic braking. Blind-spot monitoring is offered on every model of the CX-5, but you have to go with a higher trim to get this feature on the CR-V.
