It arrives every year without fail, but springtime feels special each time. And whether you’re looking to blow away the cobwebs, make the most of the weather, or seek out new inspiration, Rochester, MN has got you covered. Here’s our list of some of the best spring activities in the area.

4 Fun Spring Activities You Can Drive to Near Rochester, MN

1. Learn to Fly Fish at Whitewater State Park

If you’re looking for an activity that allows you to really appreciate nature, build your skills, and make the most of the outdoors, fly-fishing could be the answer. You’ll develop an in-depth knowledge of trout and their habitats, and get to enjoy the natural peace and beauty of the Whitewater State Park in its spring best. The course requires pre-booking and runs from April 21-22, starting both days at 6pm.

2. Tour the Caves at Quarry Hill Nature Park

Quarry Hill Nature Park has 329 acres of natural woodland with over eight miles of trails, as well as the Quarry Hill Nature Center with its aquarium and wide selection of wildlife. But it’s also an area with a long history of agriculture and masonry, and formerly the grounds of the Rochester State Hospital. Find out more about its fascinating past and explore the 1882 sandstone-carved storage cave at a special tour on April 23 at 1.30pm.

The Nature Center will also celebrate Earth Day on April 22 and 23, so there are plenty of reasons to get out into the wild at the park. And with all the cargo space in the trunk of your Mazda CX-5 you’ll be able to pack a hearty meal to enjoy in the picnic area.

3. Go Bargain Hunting at Pine Island

Spring is a fantastic time of year to clear out and rearrange at home. And that can only mean one thing… garage sales! Pine Island will be holding its first-ever city-wide garage sale at over 40 different sites on the weekend of April 28-29, and there’ll be a huge array of household items, furniture, and clothes available for an absolute steal.

Whether this time of year has you thinking about upcycling some furniture or treating yourself to a glow-up, bargain opportunities are just a trip up the road away.

4. Shop for Freshness at the Summer Farmers Market

From the beginning of May the Farmers Market will return to its summer location outdoors at Graham Park from 7.30am to noon. With the freshest seasonal locally-grown fruit, vegetables, and sustainable meat, as well as flowers, preserves, and baked goods, you’ll be able to browse and buy the best that the area has to offer. And the delicious concessions mean that you can sample tasty snacks during your visit as well.

Indoors or out, spring is a time of renewal, adventure, and new experiences, so celebrate the time of year by getting out and about in the local community. And while you’re exploring, don’t forget to visit us at Rochester Mazda to check out our latest inventory and offers.
