While the CX-9 has always been popular with drivers, for the 2020 model year, Mazda is giving its signature family vehicle some exciting updates. Exterior
The 2020 CX-9 is just as stylish as previous models, with some exciting enhancements. Upper trim levels will receive all-new 20-inch dark silver wheels. A distinctive new exterior color, Soul Red Crystal, will be available on the Signature trim. Exterior badging, chrome accents, and LED accent lighting complete the look.
Interior Upgrades
With the 2020 model, the CX-9 will be more comfortable than ever before. Heated cloth seating and a power driver’s seat will come standard on the base trim level. Upper trims will give you the option of second-row captain’s chairs. This is the first time that captain’s chairs will be available in the CX-9. Not only do these chairs provide more comfort, but they also make it easier to board the vehicle. The 2020 CX-9 Signature trim gives you an extra console for second-row passengers and new Nappa leather upholstery.
Technology
The 2020 CX-9 will feature the latest in technology, including an all-new 9-inch touchscreen display that is standard on the Touring model. The Touring model also gives you third-row USB ports and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. A hands-free liftgate and keyless entry are just some of the additional features you can expect from the new CX-9.
Standard Safety
With the 2020 CX-9, you’ll never have to compromise when it comes to safety. Mazda’s i-Activsense driver assistance suite will come standard on all trim levels. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection. i-Activsense will also help you monitor your vehicle’s blind spot, detect rear cross-traffic, and alert you if the CX-9 is drifting into another lane. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and enhanced traction assist will make driving the CX-9 a breeze.
Updated Engine
One of the updates that drivers are most looking forward to is the 2020 CX-9’s updated engine. A turbocharged 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will now come standard in all models. This powerful engine is capable of putting out 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. Previous model engines only produced 227 horsepower.
The new engine teams up with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus, making your ride smoother and giving you a better steering response. An all-new off-road feature allows for more torque and brake force. All models will come standard with six-speed automatic transmission and the option of front- or all-wheel-drive. Front-wheel-drive models will have a mile per gallon (mpg) rating of 22 in the city and 28 on the highway. All-wheel-drive models will be capable of reaching 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
